Privacy Policy
LawnCalendar (lawncalendar.app) is operated by an individual (the "we" / "our" / "us" referenced below). This page explains what data we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
- Your ZIP code. Used to build your personalized lawn care calendar (region, climate, soil temperature model).
- Your email address. Used to deliver the PDF attachment and any optional future email you opt into.
- An optional grass-type selection if you provide one.
- The general location (city + state) derived from your ZIP via a public lookup, stored alongside your subscriber row for analytics aggregates.
- Server access logs. Our hosting provider (Render) logs request IPs, timestamps, and paths for the purpose of operating the service. We do not separately collect your IP.
- Optional analytics via Plausible or PostHog (privacy-focused, cookie-less analytics) if/when enabled. These providers do not track you across other sites.
What we DON'T collect
- We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or any government identifier.
- We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
- We do not fingerprint your browser.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party.
How we use your data
- To send you the lawn calendar PDF you requested.
- To send a small number of future emails — for example, announcing a new feature, asking for feedback, or notifying you when the (planned) real-time weekly emails launch. Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link.
- To produce aggregate, anonymous statistics about which regions and grass types are most common among our users (no individual identification).
Affiliate links
Some product links on the website and in the PDF are affiliate links — primarily through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you click one and purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed wherever they appear. We do not receive any data about your purchases from these affiliate programs beyond aggregate click and earnings counts.
Third parties we share data with (only as required to operate)
- Supabase — database hosting (your subscriber row).
- Resend — email delivery (your email address + the PDF attachment).
- Render — application hosting.
- NOAA NCEI — public climate data (we send only a weather station ID, not your email).
- USDA / public ZIP lookup — to resolve your ZIP to a hardiness zone and lat/lon (we send only your ZIP).
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, and optional CAPTCHA (Turnstile).
How long we keep your data
We keep your subscriber row until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribe, we retain only the minimum needed to honor your opt-out (hashed email or token), so we don't accidentally re-email you if you subscribe again later. You can also email hello@lawncalendar.app and ask us to permanently delete your row.
Your rights
If you are in the EU (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your data, and to opt out of any sale. We do not sell your data, so the opt-out right is automatically satisfied. For access / correction / deletion, email hello@lawncalendar.app and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
LawnCalendar is intended for adults maintaining residential lawns. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the record.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the project evolves. Material changes will be announced via email to active subscribers. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
